Tim Burton Exhibit

Jon and I met up with his sister Laura and her daughter Avery (our god daughter) and we all went to the Tim Burton Exhibit that had just opened at the LACMA. It was pretty incredible but super super crowded! We want to go back on a day that is hopefully not as crowded. It was insane seeing the costumes from Edward Scissorhands (I mean everything that went into that costume is just insane!), the Batman costume (yes the first Batman with Michael Keaton as Batman has a special place in my heart), all of the drawings short films, just everything Tim Burton has done is just fantastic. I cannot wait to go back and spend some time and actually see everything there soon!

purchased two tickets to dollywood!

Jon has to go to Tennessee for a meeting in a couple of weeks. I am going to fly out at the tail end to meet him for a little vacation. On the Agenda: A visit to Dollywood, the Great Smokey Mountains, and Nashville. I just purchased two tickets to Dollywood. To say I am excited would be the understatement of the century!!!!!!

an evening with the cars

Had no idea The Cars were playing at the Palladium for the first time since something like 1984 and of course I heard about it AFTER tickets were sold out. Thankfully I was able to find a pair on Stubhub.com that were at face value (including shipping) so I purchased them and Jon and I stared to count down the seconds until the show. Their new album was released this past Tuesday and I have been listening to it like crazy- it really is super super good! No one opened for them we got there just in time for to grab drinks and find a spot in the back corner. They were SO SO good! I have loved them forever. They did a great mix of new and old songs. Ric Ocasek was dressed impeccably and I think may have inspired a few new looks for Jon...

Bill Cunningham

Jon and I went on a double date with Rian and Kerny and saw the movie Bill Cunningham New York.
To say it was inspiring and he is just plain cool is an understatement.

Huntington Beach bonfire

Had a Bonfire at Bolsa Chica State Beach for Riley's Birthday.

Florida

Our friends John and Ellie were getting married in Florida. Jon and I met up with Rian and Kerny in Miami and we all road-tripped our way to Lakeland. We relaxed at the beach, visited a gator farm (I would honestly say the ride in the boat was one of the most exciting things I have ever done, it seriously felt like I was flying and I really really enjoyed it when we were going fast out in the wetlands of Florida with no one else around. I think this means quite a lot as I am rather hard to impress when it comes to these sorts of situations) we arrived in Lakeland and started to celebrate the happy couple right away. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and so much fun!

When Prince sang 'Little Red Corvette'... I always thought he was singing 'Livin' on It' It wasn't until fairly recently (maybe 4 years ago) that our friend Evelyn set me straight. I am sure we all have countless lyrics to songs that really only exist to us.
Prince is doing his 21 night stand stint at the Forum. Jon and I were lucky enough to score tickets. No cameras allowed into the purple one's performances. We were able to take a couple of iphone photos which is really better than nothing. Really it was an honor to see him live. He is quite the performer. He sang all of his hits in a Vegas Revue type way - this is not meant to be a dis instead I am more giving him props for mashing up what everyone wanted to hear in the most genius way.
