Tim Burton Exhibit

Jon and I met up with his sister Laura and her daughter Avery (our god daughter) and we all went to the Tim Burton Exhibit that had just opened at the LACMA. It was pretty incredible but super super crowded! We want to go back on a day that is hopefully not as crowded. It was insane seeing the costumes from Edward Scissorhands (I mean everything that went into that costume is just insane!), the Batman costume (yes the first Batman with Michael Keaton as Batman has a special place in my heart), all of the drawings short films, just everything Tim Burton has done is just fantastic. I cannot wait to go back and spend some time and actually see everything there soon!

purchased two tickets to dollywood!

Jon has to go to Tennessee for a meeting in a couple of weeks. I am going to fly out at the tail end to meet him for a little vacation. On the Agenda: A visit to Dollywood, the Great Smokey Mountains, and Nashville. I just purchased two tickets to Dollywood. To say I am excited would be the understatement of the century!!!!!!

Jon and I went on a double date with Rian and Kerny and saw the movie Bill Cunningham New York.
To say it was inspiring and he is just plain cool is an understatement.

Florida

Our friends John and Ellie were getting married in Florida. Jon and I met up with Rian and Kerny in Miami and we all road-tripped our way to Lakeland. We relaxed at the beach, visited a gator farm (I would honestly say the ride in the boat was one of the most exciting things I have ever done, it seriously felt like I was flying and I really really enjoyed it when we were going fast out in the wetlands of Florida with no one else around. I think this means quite a lot as I am rather hard to impress when it comes to these sorts of situations) we arrived in Lakeland and started to celebrate the happy couple right away. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and so much fun!

NYC

I'm in New York for work/fun. I have been lagging big time on the blogging. I have had zero internet (either no connection or when I have actual connection I don't have any time) on this trip (except for the few seconds I have to write this).
I will be back in the LBC next week and have a lot to post. Until then I am enjoying some much needed time off with the man that I love, spending time with a few great friends, and trying to narrow down what shoes need a new home in Long Beach...

a wonderful day...

Jon, my parents, and I were invited to attend Taryne and Nishan's wedding. Taryne is my godparents daughter. Taryne was nice enough to take me shoe shopping when I was in my early teens. The wedding was at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. Two ceremonies- one in a church, the other a buddhist one at the reception site. Taryne wore three different insanely beautiful dresses (I so wish I would have thought of making wardrobe changes at the my wedding I did change my shoes which was planned...). It was probably the greatest wedding I have ever been to (other than my own).. the people, the flow of the wedding, the music, the food, everything was so great!

Marc Shorts

last fall I was looking at Marc Jacobs runway saw these shorts, added them to my 'create it' folder, and totally forgot about them. A few weeks ago I was looking at sale clothes on the Barney's website and saw these shorts and again added them to my 'create it' folder. I was just cleaning out my 'create it' folder and noticed all of these photos and realized I really need to make a pair of these shorts. I will keep you posted on my progress...

A little obsessed?

So the Alexander Wang corset shorts have been on my mind since they came out. However the price tag has been what has been keeping them out of my closet. They finally are getting marked down at stores but recently I looked at the front photo again lustfully, then click on the back side and well I think the photo speaks for itself....

Maybe I will wait for the next markdown.

LUSH

Lush was one of my all time favorite bands growing up. The fact that the lead vocals and both guitar parts were both women was beyond anything I could ask for. I was lucky enough to see them live a couple of times and every time they would always blow the young little me away. I have so many different memories attached to this music.
I actually got to meet the lead singer Miki Berenyi when I was in high school (I can;t remember the exact age). The song LadyKillers was huge at the time and they were doing one of those radio station concerts. One of the 'ladykillers' in the song was someone I knew... and entire verse was dedicated to him and to say it wasn't very nice is an understatement but she explained him exact, SO I told her that. She was way into that and took me around for the next hour and introduced me to everyone she knew asked questions and talked shit. It was amazing, I mean someone I idolized taking me around I was dying! Then later that night I ran into the 'ladykiller' which was amazing because she had to have said something and I loved that.
Recently I have been dying to listen to them again so i have been revisiting their music videos. Their style is SO good. Some great outfit inspiration. Finally yesterday while cleaning out the garage I found one of our missing CD cases with every album and have been listening to them back to back to back.
I wish they were still around as their music is simply brilliant!

Furniture Sale at Leisure World!

I always check the garage/estate/rummage sale section of the PennySaver hoping for something from the local retirement "community" Leisure World. A few weeks ago I hit gold when I read that there was going to be a huge furniture sale at Leisure World. I was SO excited! We were working at the time however it worked out that I was able to go! I was there at 1:30 a little before the doors opened saw people going in so I headed over. My eyes are peeled. I am looking at everything as most of the inhabitants of this "community" have really great taste. I lay eyes on an electric fireplace by Sears. I snap a photo and text it to Jon expecting him to text back that we really don't need it. I keep walking I see a woman holding an amazing painting of the sea it's huge and only $4! i was sad I was a couple of minute too late, until I see the perfect patio furniture a set of four chairs with yellow and white vinyl straps... fantastic! I snap another photo and send it to Jon. My phone rings and Jon is so excited about it all! Really? I ask him Even the Electric fireplace by Sears? Heck yes he likes it! We need it! So I run back to my electric fireplace by sears just in time to call dibs on it before a young gentleman doing the same thing as me (emailing iPhone photos to his wifey) claims it! Then I buy the chairs. I do one last walk through and see a rad painting of the Golden Gate Bridge the gentleman that is helping me lets me have it for $2 total score! All that can fit in the back of the AllRoad is the electric fireplace by Sears (which two gentlemen and I are trying to carefully place into the trunk), one of the four chairs and the painting. I get home and by some strange act of God was able to get the Electric fireplace by sears out of the trunk all by myself. I waited for Jon to get home from work and we went back to claim our three chairs on our way to yoga. Jon got a real kick out of it and took tons of photos of everyone.
Every PennySaver that comes in the mail now I keep hoping will give me news of another sale at Leisure World. My fingers are crossed that there is one soon so I can bring home some more treasures!

kids section

I was web surfing looking for great pieces for an upcoming job. Gap Kids is perfect for one of our clients. I stumbled upon these two amazing pieces but when I needed them for said client was unable to find them. Finally I found them at a semi-local mall tried them both on and now they are part of Jon's and my shared collection. Amazingly enough Jon wore the Chambray jacket to work today and got about a million and a half compliments on it. Thanks Gap Kids you are so my new jam!

White Elephant in the Room

Jon and I are heading to San Francisco to visit friends for the weekend and attend the White Elephant Sale in Oakland. Last time we were up we stayed the first night with our girlfriend Danielle and almost every piece in her house that we loved (she has amazing things in her home!) she picked up at the sale. I am dying to see what treasures we end up finding and am looking forward to spending time with our friends and eating like crazy!!!!

Studs

My friend Che (an amazing designer, tailor, problem solver... probably one of the coolest ladies I know) made this SICK bag. I would like a few of them but alas this was a gift for someone else. I am hoping next time we have downtime on a job she can show me the tricks of the trade. F-ing Incredible.

Baby.

Last weekend we helped Laura and Jay welcome little Avery James to the Warren/Potocar clan. We waited at the hospital for her in T-shirts Laura and Jay gave us for Christmas. Everyone that worked there got a kick out of them as I am assuming they have not seen anything like it before. She is too cute for words...

Proenza Schouler F/W2010

Proenza Schouler was absolutely amazing. This is exactly what I want to look like all of the time (the use of thigh high stockings! I have been looking forward to getting reacquainted the second my legs are in better shape to no longer offend). I love the front view of the shoe but the side profile will have to grow on me. I know as soon as I see them in person I will be sold. No hating just lusting....
